(They/Them)
Musgamagw Dzawada’enuxw — Kingcome Inlet Founder, Strengthening Connections Consulting
I come from the four original tribes of the Musgamakw Dzawada’enuxw of the Kwakwaka’wakw Nation, with roots in Kingcome Inlet and Alert Bay. My grandparents, Fanny Wamiss and Willum Webber, taught me that leadership is not about titles — it is about how you carry yourself, how you treat people, and how you honour the responsibilities you inherit.
I was raised away from home, like many Indigenous people of my generation. That experience shaped my earliest understanding of systems — how they can disconnect us from who we are, and how they can be transformed when people are willing to do the hard, relational work. My Two‑Spirit identity and my role as a single parent ground me in accountability, humility, and the belief that our work must create safer pathways for those who come after us.
Over the years, I’ve worked across many worlds: frontline services, Indigenous education, governance, economic development, community research, and organizational change. I’ve been a police constable, a post‑secondary leader, an Executive Director, a consultant, a strategist, and a curriculum architect. These roles taught me how systems operate from the inside, and how to shift them with intention, clarity, and cultural integrity.
Today, I bring all of that experience to Strengthening Connections Consulting, where I support organizations in moving beyond performative reconciliation toward meaningful, measurable change. My work includes strategic planning, policy development, trauma-aware training, Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer inclusion frameworks, and community-rooted program design.
One of my most significant current projects is the development of an Indigenous‑led addictions aftercare curriculum a land‑based, trauma‑aware, culturally grounded model designed to support people in the critical months after treatment. This work weaves together community teachings, evidence‑informed practice, and the lived realities of those navigating recovery.
Everything I do is guided by a simple belief: Our people are not struggling because they are broken, they are struggling because systems are. And systems can change.
My work is one small part of a much larger movement strengthening connections between people, communities, and the teachings that have always guided us toward balance, dignity, and the next seven generations.
Rooted in relationship. Guided by purpose. Every organization's journey is unique, and every partnership starts by understanding where you are and where you hope to go.
Whether you're looking for strategic guidance, Indigenous-led training, governance support, curriculum development, or a trusted thought partner, we'd welcome the opportunity to connect and walk alongside you as you create lasting, meaningful change.
